Great Wedlock Dinosaur Experience (also known as Tenby Dinosaur Park)

Yesterday, we went to the Dinosaur Park. A family day out with three children under four can be hard work. However, the Dinosaur Park has enough to keep the children entertained all day.

The dinosaur walk

There is a dinosaur walk through the trees with fibreglass dinosaurs to see with information points to tell you about them. There are over 30 dinosaurs hidden amongst the trees. The path is wheelchair and buggy friendly with a shortcut to avoid a steeper bit of path. Personally I take the longer route so my children can see the triceratops and the path isn’t all that steep.

My middle child was a little wary of the dinosaurs, especially the ones that roar. At this time of year there are wild blackberries growing alongside the woodland path (my children only ate a few so there are plenty left for everyone else).

Plenty of picnic tables available for lunch if you brought it. If not then there is a reasonably priced restaurant/cafe.

Other things to do

There are a host of rides, which increase in number every time we go. From slides and a soft play area, to massive climbing frames and 12 hole mini golf. There is also a large wooden maze to get lost in, zorbs and super bouncy trampolines for the older children.

My son’s favourite slide

Once you pay your entrance fee all of the manned rides are free and some of the non-manned ones cost 10p a go (for example little ride on tractors and cars).

There is also a motorised dinosaur that your child can have a ride on for a minimal fee of £1. For the older children there is an archaeological dig scheduled during the morning, where children can dig up their own fossils.

Ticket prices are good for the amount of free stuff on offer. I have a season ticket this year as it only costs two and a bit times the cost of a full ticket. There is also the option of coming back within a week of your visit for just £6 (ideal if you are in South Wales on holiday).

In conclusion a cheap(ish) day out with plenty to do for children of all ages.
